The Cougar Creek Bridge was a 26′ timber span sitting on mortared rock abutments built in 1926 that had outrun its service life. Conway Construction replaced the existing bridge with a new 60′ concrete span that allowed for a wider roadway. In addition, the creek channel was returned to a natural state not possible with the narrow existing structure. To do this, CCC had to divert the Cougar Creek through a bypass during an in-water work period. CCC also replaced the roadway approaches and installed drainage which included over 300 yards of rock excavation.
